Zainab Daodu

My name is Zainab Daodu, a Senior Technical Writer and former Software Developer with over six years of experience transforming complex concepts into clear, impactful documentation that improves developer experiences and drives product adoption. My expertise includes crafting user manuals, API documentation, and integration guides, as well as maintaining enterprise software applications and managing open-source programs.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a Master’s in Project Management from Teesside University, equipping me with a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic project management skills—an invaluable combination for bridging the gap between developers and end-users.

I began my career as a software engineer at Interswitch Group, where I discovered my passion for enhancing developer experiences through quality documentation. Since then, I have contributed to streamlining technical processes and improving API and product adoption across global platforms, including ThousandEyes (Cisco), TealiumJenkins, Wikimedia Foundation, IOV Labs, Magnopus, and Google through Bard.

In my current role, I lead transformative initiatives like migrating API documentation to unified platforms and developing comprehensive guides for cutting-edge technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Consent & Privacy, Blockchain & Smart Contracts, and Connected Spaces Platform (CSP). My open-source contributions to Jenkins and the Wikimedia Foundation have been widely recognized, reflecting my commitment to clarity and accessibility in technical documentation.

Beyond my professional contributions, I am the founder of WriteTech Hub, a platform dedicated to community growth and mentorship. Through this initiative, I have trained over 70 technical writers, many of whom now thrive in leading tech companies. I am also the author of Getting Started in Technical Writing: A Beginner’s Guide to Understanding Technical Writing, which guides aspiring writers through the fundamentals of technical communication.

My passion for diversity and inclusion drove my work with She Code Africa, where I impacted over 500 African women in tech through initiatives such as Women of Open Source Community Africa (WOSCA) and Contributhon.

Recognized as one of the Top 10 contributors shaping the future of Continuous Delivery and DevOps by the Continuous Delivery Foundation, I have also been featured in The Stack Journal’s5 Technical Writing Women You Should Know” and the prestigious OpenUK Honours List 2022 for shaping the future of Open Technology across the UK. As a thought leader, I frequently speak on technology, open-source contributions, and women’s empowerment. Most recently, I spoke at GOV.UK’s Design System Day 2024 on Content for All and All for Content, discussing the role of content in creating inclusive digital experiences.
